Thank You from President Bro. Darryl Young Jr.

Today I presided over my last meeting as President of the Epsilon Beta Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. In my 11+ years of being a Sigma, this has been one of my greatest honors. These past 2 years have been filled w/ obstacles and challenges, and they overlapped with a global pandemic and uprising. So many times Brothers could have decided to fold, yet time and time again our chapter rose above and beyond to live up to our motto, “Culture for Service and Service For Humanity”. In the past two years our chapter:

  • Became the largest chapter in our region, gaining Sapphire status (Chapters with 100+ members) with 106 financial brothers. This is up from 44 financial brothers at the start of our term
  • Recognized at the 2020 KY State Meeting, receiving Chapter of the Year Award, Brother of the Year (Bro. Cortez Hampton), and Recognition of Bro. Troy Thomas for his efforts as past State Director
  • EBS going from an unranked chapter rating to Bronze after completing our annual CSAF report
  • All programs in 2019 either broke even or were profitable
  • All of our Charity Fundraisers hit our donation goals in 2019
  • Our Dr. Samuel Robinson Scholarship Gala raising $3000 for scholarships
  • 60 PIAs submitted, representing 816.5 hours of Community Service

I am sincerely grateful for every brother in our chapter. It is because of them that Louisville Sigma’s future is so bright. It was an honor to serve my chapter and my city. Darryl Ju’an Young Jr.,
2018 – 2020 President of the Epsilon Beta Sigma Chapter
